Frick and Frack are female and male Western Scub Jays that have been visiting my patio every year since 2005. They arrive in late August or early September and depart in late April or Early May. The are not migratory but apparently move to a higher elevation after their chicks fledge in the spring.

They are extremely intelligent birds and are very bold and gregarious around people. They will come all the way inside my home to get a treat and sit on my hand or knee while feeding. They prefer unshelled peanuts in the winter. In the spring they love live mealworms or superworms.
